Is there a way to prevent the cancelation of something that is in your season pass? At this point I'm considering taking the TIVO remote into my locked bedroom because I've had too many shows suddenly go unrecorded, or partially recorded because of my idiot roommate. (It's my TIVO, and my TV connected to it.)

Re: Roomie cancles in progress recording.
Wed, January 11, 2006 - 3:18 PMYes. Get a new roommate. There's no excuse. Scheduled recordings prompt you before you cancel them, TiVo Suggestions don't. The ToDo List log also shows when they were cancelled or deleted instead of just missed. -

Re: Roomie cancles in progress recording.
Wed, January 11, 2006 - 3:40 PMI know for a fact he canceled it. The recording went a minute in before it stopped suddenly. He was in there watching TV with his white trash Trick of The Day... so I have no doubt he wasn't at all concerned with what the owner of said TV, TIVO, and master lease holder on the apartment he lives in, would feel regarding his actions. -

Thu, January 12, 2006 - 12:21 PMMight he be open to compromise?
Go to Radio Shack and get one of those $3 splitters (and a short coax cable if you don't have a spare). From the wall, one side goes to the TiVo, the other straight into the TV. Toggle the video source as needed - he can watch TV live (replete with commercials - how very last decade!), while your recordings continue uninterrupted. -

Thu, January 12, 2006 - 12:23 PMactually you can pick that splitter up almost anywhere, even drugstores (Rite Aid, Longs), Target, whatever

Re: Roomie cancles in progress recording.
Thu, January 12, 2006 - 1:39 PMActually, the solution appears to be just putting the TIVO into Standby mode and placing the remote in my room. Once the TIVO is in standby it passes on the full cable signal to the TV itself. No splitter neccessary, and TIVO still records while in standby. -

Especially if your roommate is an obstinate 8 year old, rather than a reasonable adult. -

Re: Roomie cancles in progress recording.
Fri, January 13, 2006 - 10:37 AMNo, my roomie is a crystal meth addict. He waited a whole month after moving into my place to start doing it! i'm so happy. Now he blames his meth addict friends for changing the channel while recording. -
