So my TiVo remote is finally dead.
I gotta get a new one, but the only place I can find online is selling brand new replacement ones for like 60 bucks. (!)
Does anyone know of a better (read: cheaper) source?
I don't wanna try ebay either. I hate ebay. ebay killed my mother.
It's the remote for the Sony series 1 (old skool) SVR 2000.
I tried Sony's website but couldn't find one.
Any suggestions, fellow TiVo'ers?

Re: Replacement remotes?
Wed, March 15, 2006 - 6:44 PMThose aren't the right ones...
But here's the next question...
and this is more of a philosophical question with no right answer.
Do I sink more money into this TiVo or do I just splurge and get series 2 instead? The obvious answer would be yes, but put yourself in the place of someone who doesn't have a lot of extra money lying around. Is series 2 worth it? And I don't want to hear about TiVo to-go because I'm a Mac OSX user. -

Re: Replacement remotes?
Thu, March 16, 2006 - 10:52 AMAre you using satellite or cable? If it's an option to switch over and start a new satellite account, many firms are happy to provide a free DVR with a service contract. -

Re: Replacement remotes?
Thu, March 16, 2006 - 10:53 PMthanks for the suggestions, folks.
But my buddy works in the tech department of a company so I told him to ask around his department to see if anyone had an old SVR2000 remote. Of course the answer was yes, and I will be getting it for free because the guy who has it is good friends with my friend. Sometimes it's good to know computer geeks.
thanks again!
