A popular TiVo message board is overflowing with complaints about the DIRECTV-TiVo DVR, including the HD DVR.

Washington, D.C. (January 3, 2007) -- DIRECTV has experienced several major issues with its new HD DVR. However, owners of DIRECTV's TiVo DVR say they are now having problems as well.
At the TiVo Community Forum ( www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...read.php ), a popular message board for TiVo owners, complaints about the DIRECTV-TiVo recorder have filled more than seven pages in just two weeks. Posters say the device is failing to record shows and mysteriously deleting programs previously recorded.
The problem seems to be affecting all DIRECTV-TiVo recorders, including their HD DVR (HR10-250).
"Tonight my HR10-250 states it deleted Cold Case on TNT HD early to make space for another program. The kicker is, it did not record the program it supposedly deleted and the only program scheduled to record was Cold Case," says a poster named lmk911.
DIRECTV and TiVo yesterday did not return calls and e-mails asking for a comment on the apparent problem. The TiVo Forum posters say that DIRECTV's customer service has informed them that they are working to resolve the issues.

Re: More DirecTivo Suckiness (and finger pointing)
Thu, January 11, 2007 - 9:53 PMWelll, I guess this sort of thing could explain why DirectTv is dumping Tivo in favor of their own DVRs. -

Re: More DirecTivo Suckiness (and finger pointing)
Fri, January 12, 2007 - 3:27 PMThe DirectTV DVRs suck ass. They have a couple of TiVo licensed features like the equivalent of a Season Pass but they are extremely awkward. You can basically get them for free from DirecTV but if you've had a TiVo their lameness will drive you nuts. They also have issues like randomly not recording the last 10 minutes of a show. -

Sun, January 14, 2007 - 11:39 PMYeah, but with one button click you can check your horoscope. :) Try as they will nothing is as simple and easy to get it do what you want as a real TiVo unit. I've had none of the problems reported with either my regular DirecTivo or my HD one.

Re: More DirecTivo Suckiness (and finger pointing)
Wed, September 5, 2007 - 2:24 PMDirecTV claims they will finally activate remote recording on TiVo units next year. You will finally be able to tell a DirectTV to schedule a show via the Internet. See, they do listen. It just takes 4 years.
